Air and fuel, in the right balance.
AFR tuning assesses the LPG system’s air–fuel mixture under different operating conditions. The aim is to check calibration against the needs of the vehicle and its existing system. Any mechanical or ignition problems need to be assessed before tuning.
What happens during your service?
- We inspect the existing LPG system and review your concerns.
- We check that the engine and system are operating correctly before tuning.
- We assess the measurements and carry out the required calibration.
- We explain the results and any further work needed.
WHAT IS AFR TUNING, AND WHY DOES IT MATTER?
AFR tuning is the LPG setting based on reading the information and data in the vehicle with devices on the road. Petrol data and air-fuel ratios in your vehicle are read carefully and the data obtained from this is recorded in the LPG system's own brain. Therefore, instead of an LPG setting based on coincidences, a conscious and deliberate LPG map map is obtained.
The air/fuel values in the vehicle's petrol are integrated into the fuel map of our LPG system by reading the data we receive from the narrow band sensor in the vehicle with the help of the Wideband AFR sensor and by connecting to the OBD port. It is the synchronization of the vehicle's LPG system map by connecting to the computer while the vehicle is driving and using the vehicle in different conditions (bottom throttle, half throttle, on ramp), so that the air, fuel and other parameter values on the petrol map are the same.
In vehicles with AFR tuning:
LPG performance matches petrol performance.
- LPG operation is free from tuning-related loss of power, misfires, juddering and stalling.
- Engine problems and overheating caused by incorrect LPG tuning are avoided.
- On-road AFR tuning prevents excessive fuel consumption.
- The key difference from stationary workshop calibration is that AFR tuning is based on measured, observed data.
- Correct AFR tuning prevents the engine warning light from coming on because of LPG calibration issues.
AFR tuning prevents many engine problems caused by an excessively rich or lean mixture in LPG vehicles.
- On-road AFR tuning prevents premature damage to ignition components, particularly coils and spark plugs, caused by incorrect LPG calibration. It also helps prevent premature failure of components such as the EGR valve, catalytic converter and engine valves.
- AFR tuning is carried out once after LPG installation and remains effective for many years. The settings remain stable as long as the LPG system’s regulator pressure does not change.
- AFR tuning means more than simply adjusting the LPG system during a drive. Instruments connected to the vehicle collect engine data, which are assessed and interpreted to create the LPG fuel map. The technician also needs a detailed understanding of the installed LPG system’s software. This work therefore requires a knowledgeable technician working with the vehicle on the road.
- Not every AFR tuning service results in a correctly calibrated LPG system.
At Candan Mühendislik, we carry out on-road AFR tuning and road checks after every LPG installation, without exception and at no extra charge.
As a result, in Candan Mühendislik installations;
1) Your vehicle will not burn too much with LPG.
2) Your vehicle exhibits an LPG performance indistinguishable from petrol.
3) LPG-related fault light will not come on in your vehicle.
4) LPG-sourced valve and catalytic system in your vehicle. Converter problems do not occur.
5) Candan Mühendislik customers enjoy safe and economical driving with their vehicle.
